Het Kunstuur Hasselt
The Art Hour, an initiative of Hans and Joost Bourlon has been well-known in Mechelen for several years now. In April 2022, the old City Hall of Hasselt was also transformed into a unique art experiences where visitors can discover Belgian masterpieces in one hour.
Challenge
How can you make art exhibitions accessible for the general public and also fascinate non-art connoisseurs? The Art Hour is a perfect example of this. Famous Flemisch people tell their personal story with each painting. In this way, they inspire and thrill the visitors. The visit is timed and lasts exactly 1 hour. The light and video effects guide the visitors through the museum and ensure that everyone experiences an enchanting hour of art.
Result
PWL has created the unique lighting & video effects and full show control system. From moving curtains and automatic doors, to ambilights for every painting and projections of famous Flemisch people. Everything is perfectly timed and programmed so that the visitors can experience an hour of art without thinking. The icing on the cake is the apotheosis in the wedding room of the old town hall. The place where many couples have said yes is being restored to its former glory thanks to the unique atmospheric lighting.
