Giga LED-screen for Play Zuid
In collaboration with PWL and Deusjevoo, a fantastic studio was designed for Play South. PWL installed a giant LED screen measuring as much as 2 by 10 meters. The screen provides a dynamic background during broadcasts and recordings. Shows such as the 'Cooke & Verhulst show' and 'De Tafel van Vier' are broadcast or recorded live here. The studio is fully compliant for recordings and TV broadcasts, as well as for hosting audiences. The size of the screen requires unique imagery. The content for this is carefully selected and prepared for each recording or broadcast in cooperation with PWL and the editors.
Challenge
Play Zuid is an event venue in the former Zuiderkroon with two floors. The second floor provides a spacious hall suitable for performances, musicals, events, TV programs,... This is where the Cooke & Verhulst show was recorded in 2022. On the first floor, in the summer of 2022, they worked hard on a new concept with an impressive central studio used for 'De Tafel Van Vier', among other things. SBS Belgium and Dedsit went in search of an appropriate studio design with a contemporary look and feel and broadcast-compatible lighting that could be adjusted during the live show according to the guests. In addition, a suitable solution had to be provided for the studio background to display visuals during the shows. The challenge lay mainly in the fact that the ceiling on the first floor of Play Zuid is very low. This forced PWL to be inventive with hanging options for the lights etc.
In addition, the intention is that guests of the shows can have a drink in the foyer before the start of the recording or TV broadcast. This hospitality area is located around the central studio and was completed at the end of 2022. Before this opening, it was also possible to consume something in a temporary pop-up café. In short: it is pleasant to be in Play Zuid. The catering section was also carried out in collaboration with Deusjevoo and PWL.
Result
The studio asked for an appropriate solution to make the background of the show interactive for both the live audience and the viewers at home. PWL supplied a broadcast-compliant Absen LED screen that could provide the show with an impactful backdrop. PWL's project division installed the screen in the studio, supplied the media server and also performed the audiovisual system integration. Not only the installation is important, but also the service afterwards. PWL watches over the programming and perfect operation of the screen during each show. We provide unique content for each topic addressed during the action show, these images are controlled and tuned live during the program. The synergistic background is a real eye-catcher in Play South's studio.
